What this workflow does

This n8n workflow searches Reddit every morning at 8:00 for posts and comments from people looking to buy what you sell, scores each one 0 to 100 for buying intent, saves every new lead to Google Sheets and posts the hottest ones to Slack as one digest. It runs on Reddit Lead Finder - Buying-Intent Posts, Comments & Alerts ($0.004 per result) and the template itself is free.

๐Ÿ” How it works

You give it keywords for what you sell and the names of your competitors. It looks through the past week of posts and comments for people asking for a tool, a recommendation or an alternative, and returns each match with an intent score, any budget mentioned and the competitor named.

Two thresholds keep the noise down. minIntentScore, 30 by default, drops weak matches before they are returned. hotLeadScore, 60 by default, decides which of the rest are worth a Slack message. Everything that clears the first bar is in the sheet either way.

The scraper runs with its only-new mode on, so a daily schedule returns leads you have not received before and the sheet does not fill with repeats.

๐Ÿ“ฅ Get the workflow

Three ways to import it. They all give you the same workflow, published 2026-09-23.

  • n8n.io: open the template and choose "Use for free". It opens in your n8n Cloud or self-hosted instance.
  • Paste: copy the JSON, click an empty n8n canvas and press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on a Mac).
  • Import from URL: in the workflow menu choose "Import from URL" and paste https://automationbyexperts.com/static/n8n/reddit-leads-google-sheets-slack.json

โš™๏ธ The settings you edit

Every value you change lives in one node, Set your search. These are the defaults the template ships with.

SettingDefaultWhat it does
keywordsemail marketing tool, newsletter softwareWhat you sell, as people would ask for it. Comma separated.
competitorsMailchimp, ConvertKitCompetitor names to flag when a lead mentions them. Comma separated.
subreddits(empty)Optional. Limit the search to these subreddits, comma separated.
minIntentScore30Leads scoring below this are dropped by the actor. 30 is balanced.
hotLeadScore60Leads at or above this score are posted to Slack.
maxLeads50Most leads one run returns, which is also what caps the cost of a run.

slackChannel#leadsThe Slack channel the digest is posted to.

๐Ÿ“Š What lands in your Google Sheet

One row per new lead, with these 12 columns. The header row is written on the first run, so start with an empty sheet.

๐Ÿš€ How to set it up

  1. Get the workflow into n8n

Open it on n8n.io and choose "Use for free", or copy the workflow JSON from this page and paste it onto an empty n8n canvas.

  2. Connect Apify

Create an Apify account and connect it in the Find buying-intent leads on Reddit node, with OAuth or an API token.

  3. Connect Google Sheets and Slack

Create an empty Google Sheet and paste its URL into googleSheetUrl. Connect your Slack credential and set slackChannel.

  4. Set your keywords, run once, activate

Replace the example keywords and competitors with your own and run the workflow once by hand. The first run writes the header row in the sheet. Then activate it.

๐Ÿ’ต What it costs to run

$0.004
per result
The template is free. Each run bills Reddit Lead Finder - Buying-Intent Posts, Comments & Alerts on your own Apify account. A full run of 50 leads costs $0.20, so running every morning at 8:00 (30 runs a month) comes to at most about $6.00 a month at the current price. Lower maxLeads to lower that ceiling. The Apify free plan is capped at 25 leads per run.

โ“ Questions about this workflow

Do I need a Reddit account or API key?

No. The Reddit Lead Finder actor runs with no Reddit login and no API keys. You need an Apify account, a Google Sheet and Slack.

How is the buying-intent score worked out?

Every post and comment is scored 0 to 100 from signals such as asking for a tool, an alternative or a recommendation, plus any budget mentioned. The sheet also records which signals matched.

Can I limit it to certain subreddits?

Yes. Put them in subreddits, comma separated, for example SaaS, smallbusiness. It is empty by default, which applies no subreddit limit.

Can I use Telegram or email instead of Slack?

Yes. Replace the Post hot leads to Slack node with Telegram, Gmail or Discord.

What does it cost to run?

The workflow itself is free. Each run bills the Reddit Lead Finder on your own Apify account per lead returned, and maxLeads caps that at 50 leads per run by default. The Apify free plan is capped at 25 leads per run.

Need this for a different site?

A workflow needs an actor for the site first. Tell me which one and what the alert should say.
